Omnibird has created the new omnipresent eye in the sky! Unit-XII is a portable video recording device intended for traffic data collection. However, Unit-XII has also been used for applications like temporary surveillance.
Unit-XII was designed to help government agencies offset their traffic data collection costs by bringing some of it in-house. This helps agencies stay under budget and keep their employees busy. With the help of Unit-XII the anually recurring costs of traffic data collection can be brought down to a minimum while increasing the accuracy of the data being collected.
Setting the new standard for Video Turning Movement Counting, it features up to 85hrs of on/record time & 32gb of memory. Its been designed specifically for functionality and durability. The devices mounting function is versatile with the ability to mount to a variety of different sources. The unit weighs in at less than 5lbs and uses a standard SD Card which makes transfering data a breeze. Unit-XII is also weather resistant and works flawlessly in most weather conditions from freezing temperatures to temperatures over 100°.
Unit-XII can be pre-programed to record only the peak periods and 1 employee can comfortably set 10 intersections on tuesday, move them to 10 different intersections on wednesday and 10 more intersections on thursday. On Friday the video turning movement count units can be picked up and taken back to the office for manual processing. This allows 1 employee to capture up to 30 peak hour turning movement counts per week.
The Omnibird Unit-XII was designed by a traffic data collection company specifically to streamline and optimize turning movement counting. The video data is meant to be manually counted on a computer or monitor with the help of a Jamar TDC Ultra counterboard. The reason why we cohabitate with the TDC Ultra is because it has a new feature called video mode. This feature allows you to stop & start intervals at will. FIrst, this gives your employee the ability to stop in the middle of a count to answer a call or tend to other business by simply pausing the video & putting down the counterboard. Second, this allows the video to be sped up X2 on smaller intersections and counted twice as fast! We even have clients that use Unit-XII specifically for pedestrian studies and speed their video up to X8, completing a 24hr study in just 3 hours. These studies are for the verification of the necessity to install High-intensity Activated Crosswalks (aka HAWK Studies).
Omnibird VTMC data is the most accurate for the following reasons:
1. There is no vehicle, technician, or equipment impeding on the study area. The Unit is designed to be deployed hours before the study times and programmed with a timer for optimal study results.
2. While manually processing the data, the video can be sped up X2 on smaller intersections. This allows a processor to count the data in half the time. Also, for pedestrian studies we have clients that speed the video up to X8! That is equal to completing a 2 hour study in 15 minutes!
3. VTMC's provide your agency with archived, verifiable & defensible data. The archived video is time stamped and stored in approximately 30 minute increments so if an issue arises, the traffic engineer can review the video and verify the data.
